Darth Rigel

April 29th, 2005 · 1 Comment

Rigel was seduced by the Dark Side of the Force today. He will hereafter by known as DARTH RIGEL.
You know how I’m having that ladies’ May Day Tea? I’ve been baking the bread, mixing the herb spreads, and so on. I’d gotten two loaves of bread done, the wheat pecan loaf and [...]

Moebius Persian Tiles

April 26th, 2005 · No Comments

I tried to be so careful not to twist my first row before I joined it. Problem was, it was 200 stitches, that wanted to twist, and I wasn’t able to get them untwisted. Even though the deceptive little buggers looked untwisted when I joined it.
So now I’m frogging about 15 hard-won rows. [...]

Update on Rigel

Nothing up there but inflammation. Allergies. Guess I shouldn’t be too surprised, given the various snorting sneezing noises I make if my nose is really bugging me.

PinUp Girl Progress

April 25th, 2005 · No Comments

Finished the front of PinUp Girl this weekend. Tried it on (did a quick sewing up of the shoulders and a few stitches on the side, just enough to keep stuff together). VERY lowcut. Dave was appreciative. I’ve decided I’m going to do 3/4 length sleeves rather than full length, so [...]

BAD Steph! BAD!

April 20th, 2005 · 3 Comments

Okay, you know how I said I have to finish a) Colinette Perugino throw; b) PinUp Girl sweater; c) Mom’s angora from Knitting on the Edge? In that order? (Not to mention the DNA cable scarf or Dave’s cable scarf.)
And how I just got my Persian tile kit in the mail? With the [...]

Happy Mail

April 18th, 2005 · No Comments

You know those days you have that are just kinda blah? When something happens at work that annoys the crap out of you? What makes things better (besides a nice glass of some esoteric red Rhone varietal (big fan of Bonny Doon wines) and some See’s candy, preferably the Butterscotch Squares or Milk [...]

Stash update

April 15th, 2005 · No Comments

Moving along on the Perugino throw. It actually is big enough to be something at this point. Must finish soon so I can work on my other projects!
Increased my stash via eBay — got my order from Jannette, as well as a collection of Starmore campion and others from another seller. I [...]

Too much time online….

April 11th, 2005 · No Comments

Yep, too much time spent online. Tweaking the blog, shopping on eBay, skimming Knitter’s Review, reading other people’s blogs….and reading online mags.
I like Knitty a lot. None of the current patterns grab me (except, strangely enough, the lampshade), but I read it for the technical columns as much as I do the patterns. [...]

Stash acquisition

April 10th, 2005 · 2 Comments

Lazy, lazy weekend. I’ve been puttering around the house, working on the Perugino throw, reading, watching movies, waiting for my back to NOT hurt so I can get my butt moving so I don’t suffer tremendously during the tri which is just 2 months away. AGGGH.
We had a bit of a cold front [...]

My husband’s SABLE

April 9th, 2005 · No Comments

So I’m reading Stephanie Pearl-McPhee’s book At Knit’s End : Meditations for Women Who Knit Too Much and sharing various pithy observations with my husband, including the discussion of SABLEs, and he points out that he has a SABLE, too.
(Which means, should my yarn acquisitions reach that amount, he should totally understand.)
Let me say that [...]
