Thanks everyone for your best wishes regarding Cecily. She’s coming home later today. She’s on prednisone now, which I believe is helping her with her anemia; the only bad thing is if she has lymphoma hiding out somewhere, it’ll mask that for awhile. But I’d rather have a live purring cat [...]

Cecily
July 30th, 2005 · 2 Comments
Our cat Cecily is sick.
I diagnosed her with diabetes a couple weeks ago, got her started on insulin (she was already on the proper food, Purina DM), she started doing better — less inappropriate urination, perkier, more playful, chirping, talking A LOT. Gad, that cat has a mouth! Mrrrr, mrrr, maaaaa. That [...]

Biking the Strand
July 24th, 2005 · No Comments
Looonnnggg ride for me….we biked the entire Strand, 43 miles round trip, from RAT Beach north to Pacific Palisades and back.
Adventure! Danger! Excitement! Wipe outs! Bonking!
And this is supposed to be fun??
I wiped out in Venice Beach going north, going too fast (we’re talking relative speed, here) around a turn. [...]

Mom’s Angora
July 23rd, 2005 · No Comments
Progressing again! I’m shaping the armholes on the back, so I’m almost done with the back. Mom wants shorter sleeves so the sleeves should go quickly (or at least quicker) than normal. I shouldn’t whine but it’s been hot (for us) and fuzzy angora/wool blends don’t go well with heat.
(Please forgive the [...]

I injured my ankle. Don’t know what I did. Rested it, took some days off, it’s better, but now I’m beating myself up for slacking off. I know, not slacking off, recovering from a mild injury, but ….. it feels like slacking off.
ARGH.

Rowan International

I joined Rowan International and just received my first newsletter and 2 balls of KidSilk Haze in Pearl. I don’t know if I’m going to make the scarf whose pattern came with the Haze or a different scarf….or use it for something entirely else. It’s such a nifty yarn.
I know I shouldn’t complain [...]

Training vs Knitting
July 16th, 2005 · No Comments
Ack. Good thing my mom doesn’t read this much, or else she’d know the following:
I’ve done very little knitting for the past couple weeks. Very little. I have about 3 weeks to finish her sweater, which shouldn’t be a problem, as long as I START KNITTING again.
I’ve been pretty focused on work [...]
Work Interferes
July 12th, 2005 · No Comments
Ah, yes; the story of most of our lives, if tri’s are just something we do in our spare time. Work. 8am-6pm plus throw in a little (or a lot of)time for a commute. Luckily if I’m schedule 8am-6pm I get a 2 hr break for lunch which is of course [...]

Happy 4th of July!
July 4th, 2005 · 1 Comment
Dave and I did a 5k (Village Runner in Redondo Beach) this morning. I did it about 3 minutes faster than the 5k in the tri — no surprise there — and ran a lot more of it than walked.
Here’s a pic of the finished bookcase. Knitting books are the two shelves on [...]

Scored on eBay
July 3rd, 2005 · No Comments
Paid too much money but got Stillwater – actually paid okay eBay prices, but still a lot…. And still on the search for In the Hebrides and maybe Scottish Garland.
Gotta say I love Starmore’s fabrics….but I hope to get good enough (or brave enough) to alter the shaping a little on some of the [...]
