Misty Garden DONE!

January 28th, 2006 · 4 Comments

Misty Garden is done!
I’m happy with the colors, very pretty I think. The picture doesn’t do it justice –the yarn, Louisa Harding Kimono Angora in color #6, is actually a very nice mix of grey, peach, soft pink, and brighter pink. I used size 7 bamboo circulars.
Here’s a pic of my progress with [...]

Hills hills hills hills

January 27th, 2006 · 1 Comment

I did a short but painful bike ride last weekend involving hills. I know I will get better if I persist….
Runing-wise Mel and I met three times this week.
Monday was a nice relaxed easy run.
Wednesday we decided to do something a little different — hill repeats. There’s a hill we nearly always go [...]

What Kind of Knitter Are You?

January 21st, 2006 · No Comments

You appear to be a Knitting Purist. You are an accomplished knitter producing beautiful pieces with a classic feel. You sometimes lament losing half of your local yarn shop to garish novelty yarns. Perhaps you consider fun fur scarves the bane of knitting society and prefer to steer new knitters towards the wool and cotton [...]

Carlsbad Half — Brief

January 17th, 2006 · 2 Comments

Survived! AND with a PR!
Finished at 2:54:09, 13:17 pace. My 2003 Long Beach 1/2 marathon time was — get this — 3:03:57. Pacific Shoreline 2003 was 3:07:44. (I’ve done that twice but can’t find the other results.) (We won’t mention my time for the inaugural 2004 Chesebro Half.)
Almost a 10 minute PR! [...]

Lady Eleanor and Misty Garden

January 16th, 2006 · 2 Comments

Still working away on Lady Eleanor….
I also visited The Black Sheep in Encinitas while visiting Carlsbad and doing a half marathon this weekend. It’s a small store with the most complete selection of Colinette yarns I’ve ever seen as well as having a large variety of the recycled silk and wool from Tibet.
I picked [...]

Finished Gifts

January 10th, 2006 · No Comments

Finished the Weekend Knitting scarf for Mel (oooh, I love that Malabrigo – it’s like a soft fuzzy Golden Retriever puppy — you just want to squish it against your face) and hopefully will get to give it to her this coming Thursday a.m.
I also finished and gifted a second blue Purl Scarf to Jennifer [...]

Carlsbad half coming up…this Sunday

January 10th, 2006 · 3 Comments

Ooh, boy, are we gonna suffer.
Have I done any really good long runs? Nope. Has Dave? Nope. Has Mel? Nope.
Oh, we’ll all make it through. I’ve done halves with less prep. It’s just how painful and long and slow the process is going to be.
That said, I have been [...]
