Messenger bag

September 30th, 2006 · No Comments

Bag’s in the washer! Unfortunately I skipped a before pic; will add an after felting pic later. I’ll probably finish Curtis’ scarf this weekend.
I’ve planned my morning to keep me busy: pedicure (done!), breakfast at the bagel shop (ongoing as I type — my first laptop — dell xps m1210, love [...]

First Tat

September 29th, 2006 · No Comments

Almost done with the bag….Dave will be visiting his parents this weekend while I babysit the ‘kids’….should be able to get it done. Will post a pic when done.
One pic I will share now, of non-knitting content:

My first tattoo! Got it done last weekend in Santa Barbara by Pat Fish. I love, [...]

Done for the season?

September 28th, 2006 · No Comments

I think I’m done for the season….passing on Day at the Beach this year (I’ll go into the reasons later).
Up for next year….Wildflower Oly, Breath of Life, Malibu (all the usual suspects)….and we’re thinking of trying a half.
Non-tri events: I may do the Manhattan Beach 10k next weekend; may do the Long Beach [...]

Escrow

September 22nd, 2006 · No Comments

Well, our house was in escrow, then it wasn’t (buyers backed out), now it will be again Monday (new buyers). That’s my excuse for being negligent re: blogging.
That said, I cut almost 20 min off my time from Malibu last year — awesome! I’m still very slow, but I’m very pleased with my [...]

New Offer

September 21st, 2006 · No Comments

We accepted a new offer tonight — for quite a bit ($14k) more than the offer that was pulled….and the buyers are okay with working with us on us being able to rent back. Awesome! our contingency is of course that everything depends on us successfully buying 223, but the new buyers are [...]

Buyers backed out….

September 20th, 2006 · No Comments

Who knows if we’ll get our Spanish bungalow.
Our buyer backed out. We already have another offer (good) for more than the original (even better) but the timing for when they’d need to move in won’t work for us (bad).
Having four cats, one of whom is diabetic, and a dog, complicates things for us. [...]

Yep, another new project….

September 20th, 2006 · 1 Comment

…though this one I’m thinking will be done shortly. It’s just a felted laptop sleeve for my new laptop. I’m roughly basing it on the pattern for the small messenger bag in Knitty (summer ‘05? will post the link) except I’ve made it a little bigger (100 stitches total per round) and [...]

good about starting projects, but…..

September 12th, 2006 · 2 Comments

Why am I so good about starting projects, and rotten at finishing them?
So good at the initial planning, plotting, etc? So good at organizing?
But so bad about following through?
Is it that I get bored? frustrated? That I am flighty, easily seduced by new projects?
I used to think that setting deadlines (like joining knitalongs, making [...]

Escrow, work, and training

September 5th, 2006 · No Comments

We’re in escrow in our (new) house and go into escrow tomorrow morning on our (old) house.
Between overbooking for the summer and then selling our house, triathlon training has suffered. I do also think not scheduling anything between Breath of Life the end of June and Malibu September 17th was not a wise move [...]

In Escrow

September 5th, 2006 · 2 Comments

We’re in escrow on our (new) house and will be in escrow on our (old) house starting tomorrow a.m.!
On the knitting front: stash diet. Seriously. I have more than enough yarn to knit up some gorgeous socks, scarves, sweaters and various other things for the next couple years. Plus, with the [...]
