Keys!

October 31st, 2006 · No Comments

We have the keys!!!! It recorded today! We now have a house again! (Our old house funded/recorded last week, so technically we had a few days as renters.)
Work on the floors is progressing nicely. We had to decide between the future integrity of our new kitchen floor versus the current small [...]

Moving, floor update

October 31st, 2006 · No Comments

At least halfway done with moving stuff from our old garage to our new one.
The floor is progressing wonderfully after a hiccup regarding the dishwasher. Alas, in our new place, we will have additional storage but no dishwasher….if we’d left it in place, if it ever died and we needed to remove it we’d [...]

Planning for next year?

October 29th, 2006 · No Comments

Long run this a.m. — only 6 miles but Dave and I did intervals yesterday and I was wiped. We’re loosely following the half marathon training program Your Better Half at Runner’s World. I had an awesome, ‘why can’t I run like this in a race’ run on Tuesday with Mel.
We’re also thinking [...]

Moving timeline

October 29th, 2006 · No Comments

I’m still working on Conwy but the realities of work (and the upcoming move) has slowed progress. I hope to finish the first sock today and get the second started.
The timeline for moving looks like this:

Today: take down the curtains etc that we are keeping and wash them. Take down anything else [...]

Countdown

October 22nd, 2006 · No Comments

Dona (our realtor) and I are doing our final walkthrough on the 30th of October.
We’re supposed to get the keys officially on Halloween.
Work on the floors by Wilson Flooring Company starts that morning (install wood in the kitchen/ kitchen nook to match the oak, sand, stain, finish the kitchen and the rest of the house). [...]

Crankin’ on Conwy

October 22nd, 2006 · 2 Comments

Yesterday I finished the leg (making the same length as my New England sock), turned the heel, finished the gusset decreases. Today I worked on the foot; considering my mom wears a size 7.5-8 to my 9.5-10, I figure I’m at least 1/3 of the way along. My informal goal was to [...]

Christmas Presents

October 21st, 2006 · No Comments

I’ve started one of my Christmas presents for my mom — Conwy from Knitting on the Road by Bush, knitted in Lorna’s Laces Tahoe colorway. Such a pretty colorway! I bought the yarn at Alamitos Bay Yarn Company using my birthday discount (you get a discount for all your purchases on one day [...]

Perugino Throw finished!

October 17th, 2006 · 2 Comments

Finished the Perugino throw tonight. I was able to use all but a little bit of one color of mohair — just couldn’t add any more to the fringe.

Basic Risotto

October 16th, 2006 · No Comments

Last night I made up a batch of basic risotto. I wanted enough to have leftovers for a couple lunches this week (never as lusciously creamy as when made fresh but very tasty).
1 large onion cut into small pieces
Enough butter (unsalted organic) or olive oil to saute the onion and the rice
6 cups chicken [...]

Move in issues…..

October 15th, 2006 · No Comments

We still don’t know if this is going to go through or not. I think it will but not in as timely of a manner as we’d like.
It still all hinges on when the tenants are getting out.
After this experience I don’t think I’d ever even LOOK at a house for sale that had [...]
