Espresso Bean — home stretch

September 2nd, 2007 · No Comments

Body done, sleeves done, all ends woven end except for what will be associated with the neck!
We went diving yesterday at Anacapa, one of the California Channel Islands, on the Spectre out of Ventura Harbor. Despite my Scopalamine patch I was miserably sea sick for most of the day and only made two of the [...]

Espresso Bean aka Tomato

August 28th, 2007 · No Comments

I’ve finished the colorwork and started the waist decreasing. I practiced using both hands doing the colorwork; my left hand did fine but my right hand got sore (I’m right handed and usually knit English as opposed to Continental). I am pleased with my tension — no puckering and no excess [...]

…day before Christmas…

December 24th, 2006 · No Comments

…and I’m still working on the second of my mom’s Conwy socks.
I did finish Mel’s present (a square of entrelac Noro a la Lady Eleanor, the same color as my Lady E), a scarf for our friend Arlene (eggplant 6 ply Merino from HandPainted Yarns, Fiesta Chinchilla in Sandstone, and some Cashmerino (I think) in [...]

Messenger bag

September 30th, 2006 · No Comments

Bag’s in the washer! Unfortunately I skipped a before pic; will add an after felting pic later. I’ll probably finish Curtis’ scarf this weekend.
I’ve planned my morning to keep me busy: pedicure (done!), breakfast at the bagel shop (ongoing as I type — my first laptop — dell xps m1210, love [...]

Fiji Anyone?

December 20th, 2005 · No Comments

Now it looks like Fiji is definitely an option. Truth to tell it’s easier to get to the South Pacific for us than to the Caribbean.
Check out Maruva Plantation Resort and Swiss Fiji Divers. Both favorably reviewed in Undercurrent (my dive travel bible of sorts).

Spring Break 2006

December 18th, 2005 · 2 Comments

Vacation.
Not Christmas vacation, of which 3 days will be spent with my parents outside Austin, TX, and 3 days with my in-laws in Geneva, IL; but SPRING BREAK.
We’re trying to decide what to do for spring break. Options include a dive trip to the Caymans (Pirate’s Pointe Little Cayman), ridiculously expensive, but we’re [...]

Hot in Austin. HOT in Cozumel. HOT HOT HOT in Austin.
We spent a couple days with my parents in Austin before flying to Cozumel, then seven days in Cozumel (great diving, will be posting to my scuba blog details on the trip, not limited just to scuba, but the restaurants, bed and breakfast, [...]

Texas to Cozumel

August 12th, 2005 · 2 Comments

We leave Sunday on vacation and of course Mom’s Angora isn’t done. The good news is I’m almost finished with the back and hope to have it done before we leave Sunday so I can just bring a bunch of yarn and start the front. Angora/wool knitting in Texas in the summer anyone???
We’ll [...]

Scuba Show, breadmaking, Level 1 TKGA

May 23rd, 2005 · No Comments

The Scuba Show was good — Dave and I whipped through it quickly but I did get to see some old friends from the LA County Advanced Diver Program. I also confused the hell out of a lot of people who’d been speakers from our class last year — “Hi! you spoke to [...]
